When Jesse Winter left Connecticut to attend his business overseas, he had no idea that he would be gone three long years. His homecoming is a bitter one. An accident has left his body shattered and his heart cloaked in ice, and he knows he’ll never be warm again. But Keith Taylor, just fifteen when Jesse skipped the country, has other ideas. He’s all grown up now, and he’s been waiting for Jesse to come home. Keith’s determined to bring the fire back into Jesse’s life, and he knows he’s strong enough to do it.

I’d like to introduce Rowan McBride who kindly subjected himself to my annoying questions.

1) What inspired you to write the book?
I wanted to write a spin on the “boy next door” story. I love that Jesse is totally unaware that the neighbor kid is in love with him when he leaves home for what was supposed to be a year-long business trip. One year turns to three, and suddenly Keith’s all grown up and knows exactly who he wants. Their dynamic was great to imagine, and I had to write it down.

2) Name the best sex scene in the work and explain what about it makes it so hot.
The night of the Christmas party. Being scarred and crippled, Jesse has no idea how attractive he is, and that night he’s mentally saying goodbye to the people around him because he’s thinking of moving away permanently. Keith changes his mind with the same determination and passion he does everything else.

3) If the book was a color—which color would it be and why.
The cold inside of Jesse plays a big part in the story, so I’d go with ice blue.

4) Which character do you most resemble and why?
Brendan Smith. Protective of his friends. Honest. I think he’d be fun at parties, but he only has two scenes in the novel so I never got to explore that.

5) Which character would you bed? (^_^)
Keith, because… well *damn.*
